Buffy has seemed to stay wet over the past few days and I don't know why - I don't remember it raining in the last few days - she seems to dry out somewhat throughout the day - but does not get completely dry .
Should I blow dry her or bring her into the warm for a bit ?? Mrs Summers is dry so it's most odd ! I'll go get a piccie if it'll help |

She's such a good girl - she got raisins too - but don't tell Mrs Summers !! |

she did - but she is taking blooming ages to dry and I might have to do her again tomorrow
there seems to be something in her underneath fluffy feathers that is drying stiff
she needs de- lousing too - feel like a really bad mum - Have been putting the redmite stuff around them - didn't think of lice - ewwwwwwwww |

Is she wiping her eyes when she's preening? I think that's what has happened with Muppet, which is why her eye problem doesn't always show. She preens and all the gunge gets trapped in her feathers. So, she doesn't feel so soft.
By the way, the Golden Eye seems to have done a great job, but I am keeping an eye out (oops, Pun on words). Once I'm sure she's clear of the problem, she'll have to be shampoo'd and blow dried |

Well she felt damp again when I went out to shut them up for the night - I don't know where she is getting it from - maybe chucking the drinking water over herself ???
Knobby why the rolly eyes ? do your girls not get baths and blow dries ?? |

| Some of our hens had a prob a couple of years ago with lice. We could see creepies ont eh skin and clusters of eggs attached to the feathers. Got powder for poultry from the vet - useless stuff. Went back and was given the stuff for fleas in cats, a couple of drops per hen was the recommendation iirc. They can be debilitating and we lost a couple of hens, be careful. The drops worked. Some people use the cattle stuff - tiny amount and not actually licensed for this use in this country. But then - are cat drops? |

Jaydeee I covered her with the powder last night = once she was dry, she has been standing out in the wet snow this morning so she is soaked again the powder has probably turned to a paste !!!
I'll catch the other one later and do her too - what was the cat stuff called in case I need it ?
Oh and do you need to turn them upside down to do them properly - cos I think neither I or them would like that !!! I just got a handful of the powder and rubbed it into her fluffy undercarriage yesterday ! |

| We got the powder everywhere we could - not an easy job! The cat drops were the ones on the shelf behind th desk - standard drops, could have been advantage? - it was a while ago. But when I told them the powder didn't work, the girl went and asked the vet and that's what the vet told her to give me. |

LOL Stephen - guess it depends if you see them as livestock or pets . Mine are most definitely pets (especially as neither of them are laying yet ) |
