The girl that came down with noticeable symptoms today sounds sooooo bad. I have done everything I always do (which clears it up lickity split) but she sounds terrible. It is not just wheezing this time. She is actually groaning and grunting with each labored breath. My heart is breaking listening to it while I write this.

Do you think the vaporizer set up with some Mentholatum would help her? I want to offer her some relief.

Couldn't wait for a reply. Went on gut instincts. I didn't set up the vaporizer, but I did strategically place three small dollops of Vick's Vapor Rub in the 'intensive care unit' (a very large clear rubber storage bin. The top has been modified with the center cut out and screen adhered to the plastic 'frame'.)

It seemed like it offered her some relief. Now it sounds like very loud sighs instead of heavy duty groaning.

I just wish I could make her all better right away. She is one of my favorite araucanas. The feathers on the top of her head have little white dots on them....so cute.

I feel a long sleepless night coming on. Sad

Well, at 2am when I awoke to the worst smelling puke that is known to man...Kristi's dog got sick ALL over the house!!!!, took me an hour and a half to clean it all up and now the doors and windows are open to get the smell out....the hen was breathing much easier. Barely a gasp. Thought she was dead till I finally made it to that room to clean up the mess in there.

Would have this time...she flys home today from Wisconsin. She will be so thrilled....sick dog that needs the vet and another evil bird in the house. Laughing That will teach her to leave and go on holiday. Razz

Glad to hear your girl seems to be doing better Deb.

And a big yuck on the dog sick front! (It could have been worse - it could have been both ends) (I'm sure that's cheered you up no end!!!! LOL)

Hope she continues to improve.

Good to hear your chook is breathing better.

Sympathies with the sickly dog too.

Hope all are on the mend soon.
