chickens!.....today I have had to buy eggs from the supermarket...with all the ice-cream and lemon curd making I have run out of eggs from my own chickens!....
It doesn't help, of course, that I only have 3 laying because my 2 buff pekins are the broodys and the
other 2 aren't laying yet.
At least the broodys are sitting on some good laying birds (such as light sussex and maran) and I will be keeping some of those. |

You'll just have to be patient, specially since you have some eggs incubating and some ladies on their way to laying
Horrid though, supermarket eggs
My Ice Cream maker came yesterday, I put the bowl straight into the freezer. In a little while, I will go and make a start on one of the recipes on the recipe bit here.
Then, I'll get to work on the Lemon Curd (I have no jars, so we'll have to eat it!!)

I used 12 bantam eggs making lemon and lime curd yesterday and just used 7 big eggs in boiled fruit cakes - went to the hen house to find 5 hen and 1 bantam eggs - girls must have known I was needing them! Production has been down a bit lately!

I just rummage around under Blue at night and pulled them out gently and candled them, then replaced them. If I left them beside her, she dragged them back underneath. She was VERY docile though, and a little more grumpy once they'd hatched. Good Luck |
