for the last few days I've been going out to let my girls out to find that their water is frozen solid even though I've been putting it in the shed with them overnight does anyone have any ideas on how to stop this? Also if its cold enough inside to freeze the water is it too cold for my hens?
many thanks Emma x |

| hello Emma, there is a thread in 'housing' started by andy ~ 'antifreeze for.....' can't remember what, but that suggests putting coverings on the drinkers and there was a possibility of the house being lined with the silver stuff. I'm not too technical, sorry, but read that thread. |

Yup, as Summayah suggested there is a thread on this at the moment, the solution we've been using is this:
It may not be attractive (unless you like 1970s bad sci-fi costumes...) but it does seem to work. It's the foil backed bubble wrap sold for putting at the back of radiators and works like the jacket on your hot water tank. |
