I've just read how helpful you were when sadmum had to find homes for her chickens. I've been putting off writing this, but I know I have to do it sooner rather than later. I need to find homes for my girls too.
I've done a lot of research, including asking physios, consultants etc., but after my op I'm just not going to be able to look after my girls in the way they should be looked after. Even now, it really is hard work and I'd sooner find them a new home before I can't do it any more and they suffer.
There's a list of my girls in the general & misc thread about names of chickens called "forgot to say..." Some of them I would like to be rehomed together, like the 3 bantams (jap, wyandotte and rir) and probably the bovans nera and her baby l/f orp. The rest well I would like them to go in at least twos so that they have a friend wherever they go.
If you can help us, please get in touch ~ I don't do photos very well and to be honest most of my girls are moulting so look a tad untidy to say the least, although I can see new feathers starting to come through now.
It's a sad day isn't it? |

I'm so pleased you asked Summayah, and I know it's hard to be giving them up. It sounds like there'll be some offers and I hope you get them all rehomed before your op.

the secret Julia is to keep them moving, that way they can't be counted too easily!
I struggled with it NannyP ~ but it just has to be done ~ I don't want them to not be looked after properly. |

Awwwwwww, Summayah. I'm sorry. But you know that if they go to any of us members, they will be spoiled rotten and well looked after. I wish I lived nearby, then I would just come over daily and take care of them for you till you were able to take it on yourself again.
You know our prayers are with you. And now I will add to the speedy recovery part...the fact that you are blessed with a new flock to bring you joy.

| Oh I feel for you - its a horrible thing to do but everyone here is so kind that I'm sure someone will be able to help. When I get back I'm going to come on this site and put myself up as an adopting mother to get some chooks back and help someone else out the way Debs has helped me (who know perhaps my girls will have had babies and I could get some of those...I can see myself as a gran!)Sharon x |

Hi Summayah, as I said in sadmum's thread I am looking to expand my flock a little and depending on how much room I have when you are ready for your girls to find new homes, I would be very happy to help.
Two girls would be perfect at the moment but I may expand a little and have room for some more.
I have a friend who has bantams and she might be able to take the three bantams together.
Let me know when you are ready to start thinking about things in more depth and we'll talk more.
I'm ever so sorry that you have to re-home your girls, if I was closer to you I would offer to help with cleaning out etc so you could try and keep at least some of your girls. The problem is that I work a lot of weekends and although I'd be able to offer bits and pieces of help, I wouldn't be able to get over to you on a weekly or more regular basis
Mind you, if I did have some of your girls, you're not so far away that I couldn't pop back to see you with them or you could come to me.

thanks for all your thoughts. It isn't just a matter of not being able to do the cleaning properly, if one of them is looking a bit off colour I won't be able to pick her up ~ at present I'm relying on my 5 year old grandson to pick any up for me ~ but they won't be here forever.
I hope I never feel that I need to leave the forum. So you may all just have to put up with me for a while yet.
LisaLou, thank you, I really need to find new homes for my girls before the end of this month ~ how does that fit in with you?
Is there anyone else can help my girls, please? |

Summayah, if no one else can have them, we may be able to take your 3 bantam girls, if that's any help?
I will speak to OH this evening to see what arrangement we can make, as you live a fair distance from us.
Please do not leave the forum as we need your calming influence on a regular basis! |
