AC - knowing my luck the new girls will stop laying the minute they arrive at our house!

I think my chooks lifestyle is so laid back that they don't think they have to do anything for their keep!!! ROFL

I used to find with mine in the summer that they thought producing eggs was so hard a job that they took it in turns to go broody and not bother doing anything even when they were turfed out of the boxes ~ that even included hybrids and my lovely honey, wheaten maran!
It was strange really I loved having the girls around and never thought of the number of eggs that 22 girls could produce if they all got to it ~ even with only 10 of them laying my neighbours and anyone else I came across had continuous gifts of eggs. I was living on my own then, but the moment my daughter and her family came to stay they went off the idea of laying!

on average at the moment

3 eggs - 11 chickens (most moulting, and one broody) so overall I think it's ok - it's enough for me and Steph
