Isn't it beautiful?! 32g - I don't know whether that's a good weight or not but it looks perfect to me.
That was on Saturday, and this morning we had another one - 39g this time.
It's like magic - you put the hens to bed at night and in the morning there's hens in the house ... and an egg - |

Have you decided how you're going to eat them yet? |

We haven't eaten them yet. We were debating whether to boil it and cut it into four, but then with another this morning we thought we could wait another couple of days and then we might have one each!
It is just like finding treasure Lisa - it's amazing! |

Just to add... VERY fresh eggs (eg only a few days, or less) can be quite difficult to peel after being boiled (we just don't experience this when we use supermarket eggs - not hard to guess why?!).
You can boil fresh eggs fine but IMHO you just have to be careful not to take half the white way when you try to peel them.
And you don't want to lose any of that precious treasure, do you |

That's interesting Lisa I didn't know that. Maybe we'll poach them then ...or maybe fry them ...or, I quite fancy scrambled. Oh no decisions decisions! |

You gotta taste them fried first, before you move on to the other ways of tasting them |

Well done! You never get tired of the thrill of collecting your own eggs.
(OH swears that the taste of raw eggs is the best of all, but I can't bring myself to eat them that way! Yuk!!! ) |

I have never eaten a boiled , fried or poached egg - well, actually I did eat 1 boiled egg in my life ( that was me being a little madam as a 3 yr old though - ate my Granny's last bantie egg that she'd been saving for her breakfast ) !!trying to pluck up the courage to do it !!!
In fact I only tried scrambled egg 4 months before I got my hens
I had a fear of them - not quite as bad as the pea or seed thing but still ............
I thought I'd better start eating them if I was really going to get my hens !! |
