| LOL! I knew you would do it! Congrats on your new birds. Just as well I've never gone to a breeder - I would need to be house hunting! |

excellent news, so glad you didn't leave one behind.
It's always the same you think of a number you want and realistically you should probably times it by 4 (as in my case). I love the gold laced had one of those but mr fox scared her to death ~ there wsn't a mark on her. She was kind of matronly when she walked and a dear soul ~ foster mum to the two pekins that she came with ~ who always ran to 'mum' if something startled them and slept under her wings at night. I have 2 baby blues, one slightly darker than the other, just aiting to see how they turn out when they're full grown.
Have lots of fun with them ~ I'm sure they'll all settle really soon as you haven't had the others but 2 minutes! |

Thanks. We were lucky to get the Gold laced and the splash to be honest. When we asked about those in September they were all spoken for. I guess with the way things are at the moment that he has had some cancellations which has allowed us to get 2 we never thought we would!
I have just been looking on the Practical Poultry website re AI and can't believe the doom and gloom that is on there. My understanding, and this has been backed up by others that I have spoken to, is that we are very low risk and things are pretty much as normal, but to be vigilant. You wouldn't think so reading the majority of posts on there!! |

Anyway... interesting day tomorrow I reckon as the 9 meet up for real in the garden!! |

| I just can't stand all the doom and gloom about this avian flu ~ surely people can see that it has been hyped out of all proportion. But then I suppose if people will keep throwing up rumours about this and that you can get to believe and worry about it. I know we have to be aware, but we mustn't curl up and die at the very thought of it. I'll get off my soap box now and creep out of the back door. |

I had a quick look, and it seems to have become part of the hype, which is worrying. I'd rather wait and see how things pan out, and as I said before, I'll have them culled and they'll go in the freezer. No point in wasting all the time and money I have spent on them |

Quick update...... Got up bright and early this morning, "oldies carried on as normal, "newbies" decided to stay in the safety of the house initially, they then ventured out to eat and drink and were promptly put in their place by Doris!! So they retreated to the house again. I went to work and Jackie has told me that they have now been out and about, seemingly getting used to their new surroundings, enjoying the garden, a bit of two and frowing with a couple of the older chucks, but nothing major. At bedtime, oldies went in bar Gloria our Buff Orp who then marshaled the newbies into the house before going in herself last and up on her perch in her fave spot!! Incredible!! All my "oldies are perched and the "newbies" are on the floor of the house, well 2 on the floor in the house and 2 squeezed into ONE of the nest boxes!! |

I just noticed the dates on your piccies .
The birds look even more fantastic when you see that they are nearly 36 years old !
Keep up the good work ,
Colin . |
