I have 2 cats that frequent our garden. One sits atop the shed snoozing and quite frankly seems to like just watching the chooks do thier thing. they are not worried by her at all. There is another though (obviously younger) who stares through the fence at them and they get quite upset. I dont think that he is man enough to take on a chook , even Bantams, but do they?

Should I worry about him or is he all fluff and no trousers.

I would say he is more fluff than trousers. He may make an attempt, but the chooks will kick his a*se in a heartbeat and that will put him off for the rest of his nine lives. Wink

I have 9 cats Shocked

when I first got the hens they were really curious but after a quick peck they learnt really fast not to go near.
I've got 9 week old chicks out and the cats just ignore them,
they've caught pigeons bigger than the chicks, I think they have worked that flying birds are ok.

they leave well alone although the other day a blackrock caght a mouse and the cats were really put out .

Shweet! I shall put the kettle on and watch him get (as Deb so delightfully put it) get his ariss kicked. Should be amusing.

i have 4 cats and they are superb hunters and i was worried when i first brought my chooks home as they always gang up on wild birds and were very amused by the chickens so we left the chickens in our run for a few days to settle in then let them out to free range and well my bravest cat thought she would have a play and learned very quickly the chickens are as quick as her and do not like being teased well they put all my cats in their place and its quite amusing to watch Wink
