Who knows about beetroot?

I cut off the tops because the remaining leaves looked so pretty, & put them in a saucer of water (like carrot tops)

So, will they grow? Confused

I don't know, but I do know you can eat the leaves. Small tender ones get used in salads. Larger ones get cooked a bit like spinach.

Or they get cooked as part of the veggie bit of the dogs' dinners.

Or fed to the chooks...

They'd never make it to the windowsil here Rolling Eyes

Can I then plant them outside & will they grow on to mature plants with a crop at the end of it? Confused

I've never heard of trying that.

If you grow them, they should keep in the ground for quite a while. I've certainly had some before that overwintered and the tops started growing again in spring (would have gone to seed). Some of the roots were a bit nibbled though..
