Um, I don't remember anything about poo problems when my chook had sour crop... But thinking about it logically, if there are problems with one end of the digestive system then that might logically lead to problems at the other end?

I have read that crop problems can indicate problems further on in the digestive tract Sad ie since the crop is designed to be a holding pouch for food, if the food cannot travel further for some other reason, then it will stay where it is (and either become a blockage or go off and lead to an infection). But that's all a bit vague, but consider things like has she been wormed recently... (sorry, I can't remember if you said elsewhere).

Personally I'd give her the medicines etc, make sure she gets enough water each day, lots of TLC and keep a close eye on her for any changes. If there are any changes for the worse, I'd be back to the vets ASAP.

Do let us know how you get on. Fingers crossed here for she makes a speedy recovery.

Thanks Lisa

Today I have decided to put her back with Running Bear - i don't think sitting in a box in my kitchen was doing her any good. So I am going to administer the drugs in the garden and have added the antibiotic to the flocks water. The vet said that was fine as long as we didn't eat the eggs. (Well as we aren't getting any eggs yet - that won't be too hard will it LOL)

She did seem a lot happier back with the rest of them and although is still more subdued than normal she went 'mad' for the mixed oats and held her own amongst the others!

Her crop is still balloon like - but not nearly as big - so fingers crossed she is getting there! Smile

How's Mutley doing?
