Sorry if this is in the wrong section - it's a question about my Roos behaviour.
My pekin roo and hen sleep separately from the other girls - but they all free range together during the day.
When he first comes out on a Morning - he is full of H£ll fire.
Wings spread the lot - and chases and bullies all the other girls. He particularly picks on the ones lower down in the pecking order - ie: my wyandotte who has been poorly.
They eventually all settle down - but I was wondering if this was normal behaviour?
Thanks

Oh no! There's no eating untill he's given them all a good battle round the garden!
Do you think he will be better when they become 'more womanly' bearing in mind they haven't even started laying yet!
Sorry - I know I'm still naive and your probably laughing your socks of at me!! |

maybe it's because they sleep seperately
So that in the morning he has to prove he's the boss |

| Whenever my Mr Pekin & wives get let out in the morning....he's straight to "work" on each of them in turn......its looks horrible, but the girls dont seem to mind anymore.....within seconds theyre all feeding from the food trough !!! |

My cockerel Sid is just the same... well almost! In the mornings he does chase the girls around a bit, but only to let them know who's in charge!!! No more than that. Besides, I don't think he really is even in charge of the girls!!!! |
