We have recently acquired a Plymouth Rock Rooster with an established flock of his own black rock girls. We were expecting potential problems between him and our existing cock, so separate housing etc was in place before the new arrivals came. All the usual problems with bringing the two flocks of hens together have been dealt with fairly smoothly and two of the newcomer's original six hens have chosen to remain with him. He is not aggressive to other birds or to our cats but he seems to hate humans. Both of us have been charged and aggressively pecked and flown at. Luckily he is a young chap and his spurs are still short and nubby. Any ideas on how to reduce or eliminate this problem, please? It is making our hitherto peaceful life less peaceful. At present we deal with attacks by warding him off with the crook of a walking stick. |

Hi and welcome Waringbottom.
Sadly, you really can not break that bad habit with a roo. You will need to find him a new home. Hope you do not have kids running around that could be attacked. |
