it has to be worth a try with the cockerel, especially if that means your Bully goes away for a little while. Your three girls will have their own space and when you reintroduce her she will be the new one!

Just an update.
I returned Doris the bully to the suppliers and brought home a big Buttercup ! I had her in a cat carrier and put it in the run with the 'old girls' they pecked away at it and tried to intimidate her. I took her out of it for a short period of supervised bonding ! The formally quiet little mouse of a hen (Maud) suddenly became Attila the Hen ! I took the new one (Beatrice) down to the summerhouse overnight and then in the morning put her back in the basket in the run. After she had been with us 24 hours I put her in with the others and Attila continued to chase her but she was suitably subservient. I waited to see what would happen at bedtime and it was hilarious. Attila did her best to stop Beatrice going in the house and after a bit of argy bargy Attila fell off the ramp and Beatrice went in ! They all seem to be getting on fine now and I am getting 3 eggs everyday. Just one more to start laying now.
