what breed would be good for the pot?
Obviously not the Banties but what large breed is good fer the fattenin'!

Some might be a little alarmed, but some on here will eat birds.
I have 3 Shetland cockerels, 2 of whom will be eaten soon. I've never done it before, but I cannot keep all 3 and nobody really wants cockerels.
I have no idea what breeds are best for eating, the Shetlands don't look very meaty.
I'm sure someone will tell you soon.  |

I hear Light Sussex is a good bird for eggs & meat, but haven't tried it myself. There are others who will have more knowledge of this, I'm sure.
Why not bantams? We eat ours - just have 2 instead of 1.  |

a maran coq for preferance or a maran hen .............. ...............trouble if you get a laying hen with those eggs can you eat her? so go for a coq or light sussex or dorking all taste super..............mojo  |

We raise Cornish Cross specifically for the purpose of going into the freezer. Not sure if you have them over there or not.
