Well Guys, i must have been good this year because i asked Santa for an egg this week and guess what i got this morning........
I let the girls out at the usual time and went back an hour or so later to clean out the coop and tidy up and just on a hunch i checked the box again......
my 1st egg was waiting I'm pretty sure it was Dolly who is walking around 5 foot tall and very proud of herself...
After almost 5 months it's been a long wait but worth it....my 3 year old wanted to know where the writing was (best before date) Hopefully we might get a few more over the next few weeks.
I'm going to have it soft boiled, with a hot coffee and a bagel. |

Hey Big D.... if it makes you feel any better it was only a little one.....my Mum said it reminded her of a bantam egg that they used to give to kids when she was young.....had to have 2 bagels to make up for it! |

Big D - still nothing, What have you got? (breeds and age that is)
I've had 1 laying for a fornight and another started 2 days ago but I expect that will stop now cos of the dog attacking them, I calculate that yesterdays eggs would have already been 'in the making'
I think you'll get eggs soon Big D |

Great news Newboy! Nothing matches that feeling of finding a fresh laid egg. You'll have lots come spring. |

I have 2 Black Rocks nearly 3 years old. One of which has been back in full plume for a month. "Not enough light"......that's an excuse not a reason
And 1 Cream Legbar and 1 Maran from Dee's remote outpost (see poultry mart) although they're only bairns and I wont expect anything of them until well into the new year.
Enjoy your lovely fresh eggs! |

Does anyone know where to get rid of surplus eggs??? Its become ridiculous!!! Eggs all over the place. Is there something you can give to chickens to STOP them laying???????
