I am new to this forum. I am currently in the process of looking for a new hen house currently have a Forsham Boughton 902 but want a more traditional looking house that will house 6 hen comfortably.
What do you all use???? Can anyone recommend anything???
I have been really taken by the Little Acres Stafford but I am just trying to find out if they can modify the slide out floor for me but would be interested in any other makes anyone thinks I should take a look at.
Thanks

Hi and welcome.
Have you looked in Golden nuggets for housing? |

I have the Littleacre Grosvenor (very similar to the Stafford but with attached run) and on the whole I am very happy with it. It is very well made and the customer service is excellent. I wanted one in a hurry and they went out of their way to accommodate and deliver when I wanted it.
The two drawbacks I have found are;
The pull out floor is not as useful as I first imagined. To put any depth of shavings on it and you cannot pull it out without dumping most of it on the floor under the house.
Since the floor doesn't work quite as expected, the half length door on the back makes cleaning awkward. |

I have the Stafford, as you know, the floor is always going to be a bit of a problem when removing, but you can get most of it out before you remove the floor and then it will be easy to clean the floor properly once out without any mess.
Not that experienced, but I think the Stafford is a great house and it gives you room for 8 large or 10 medium chucks... Perfect! |

Hi, save some money and have a go at building one. The ones I looked at were well too expensive, so rather than go without I had a go at making one. Its not Buckinham Palace but the chucks seem to like it. You can have a look at it if you like at http://www.freewebs.com/desway/
Whatever you choose, cant wait to see it if you post a pic. |

That's ok, you can join the growing crowd on here that have house chickens
(Just don't let them watch cooking programs, they might get a bit upset ! ) |

Its just a shame they can't be toilet trained. I came into the lounge yesterday to see my son watching a chicken on the coffee table doing what comes naturally, he thought it was funny, I didn't.! |

Well, I laughed at that one,
It's good to laugh when you're not the one cleaning it up,
You should have given them a cloth and told them to sort it |
