I went to an auction last month and bid for a trio of these lovely chickens and they went for more than i was prepared to pay (well my partner would not pay anymore) as the final figure was £58.00.
i am not sure if this is a good price or not, but i think they are such beautiful chickens. Razz

Not sure how much they go for as mine all came from hatching eggs Very Happy
they are lovely birds, really striking when they are strutting around the yard.
Not the largest of birds and seem to be one of the breeds people either love or hate

I bought day old chicks from a rare breeds and poultry farm last year, they turned out to be a pair. She started laying for the first time this week and I must say that the cockerel has been there every morning as they come out of the coop doing the business. I have two of their eggs in the incubator (for fertility testing, I will not be keeping them, but will be selling them on) I have 6 more eggs also in the incubator, I bought as I am trying to increase my stock to 1 cock and 4 hens. The Cockerel has his first show in May.

I am taking him to Oswestry on the 5th May. He is such a show off, but I love him to bits. I have a pair at the moment, but have 8 "Appy" eggs in the incubator as I am building up stock. I want to end up with 1 cock to 4 hens. She is getting all the attention at the moment, don't know how she will react when 3 more ladys arrive. She only stated laying this week and I have 2 of her eggs for fertility testing in the incubator too. But sadly they will have to be sold off as chicks because I dont want any inbreeding. I will be looking for egg swaps too, as I hve other breeds. In the incubators at the moment, I have Araucana, Cream Leg Bar, due to hatch on Thursday, and have 18 quail arriving tomorrow. There are also 2 pekin and 4 silkie in at the moment, but again these are for fertility testing and will have to be sold off as chicks. Anyway I may post some pictures in the galery tonight.
We should have a Shropshire Rule logo hehehe Very Happy
