My friend is an egg producer and packing station and has been trying to get me to be an egg producer for ages. I tried once or twice but DEFRA always said that I didn't have enough chooks - I have 45!!!!! Anyway we now have a new man in control here in Wales and at an inspection at my friends she mentioned me. He phoned me and then sent me a form which I duly filled in and sent back a week ago. He visited me unexpectedly last night, just before the chooks bedtime. he asked a few questions then we went ot see the bantams (he thought my Brahma bantams were Sussex bantams!!!!) at the bottom of the garden - he said they were fine soI took him to see the LF. He said they were all in good condition, clean (how, I don't know with all the mud!!!) and healthy and obviously well cared for. I was so worried i wouldn't come up to scratch i gave a sigh of relief  . He keeps chooks himself so has given me his number and says to phone if no sure about anything - a really nice man  . So I am now officially certified and, at last, my free range sign is legal . |

My butcher has just put my eggs for the cafe up to £2.20 a doz so there be money........ ind dem der eggs |
