It's always a good idea to not have 1 hen that is different to the rest of the flock. Hens are shocking bigots, and tend to pick on the odd one out. Having a pair or more of a new breed helps the harmony and pecking order of your flock.

I have 7 hens!
2 Light Sussex
2 Black Rock
2 Columbian Blacktail
1 Marans
I have an odd number as one of the Maranses died recently. I always introduce hens into the flock in pairs and put them on the perch when it is dark and the others can't see what I am up to! I have found that this way works for me. Obviously you will still have them all sorting out the pecking order but that is natural.
I introduced the Columbian Blacktail birds last and I have had very little fuss. About a week of sorting the pecking order and now all is fairly quiet. I have had them about three/four weeks!
Hope this is of some help.

I have three Light Sussex, we only wanted 2 when we went to collect them but that meant leaving one all on it's own, being softies that we are we couldn't do that so we had all three, the lady selling them must have seen us coming
my three together, still quite young in this photo, they are now 33 weeks old

This is Ruby! She is now the only Light Sussex I have! I have noticed that her new feathers are coming through with black spots on the white which makes her look like a Dalmation!
