I buy tins cos I'm not organised enough to soak, but usually a tin of red kidney, tin of cannelini, and tin of barlotti, but any mix will do. When it's cooked I mush it a bit with a potato masher, not completely but just a bit. It's much thicker meal than the meat variety as there isn't so much in the way of gravy, but it's really delicious and good with rice or jacket spuds. Freezes fine too, and will easily make 4 meals, or 6 at a push. |
Made this on the woodburner yesterday, had some for our main meal tonight with baked pots.
Thanks Noo
Oh, and have loads left for the freezer. Will serve to visitors next week, nice cheap and easy meal. |

Kerri's favorite recipe is pulses (we all like it )
we soak them ,then drain
make a salad up with onion ,galic ,flat leaf parsley ,olive oil as the dressing ,we add a tin of tuna ,and eat it with home made bread
it's very filling and we make it up,leave in the fridge it's better the day after made
have to try that auntie noo |

Yesterday I made Spicy Bean Burgers, see
here. They were lovely, we had one each last night, Mark has a small one extra, and today we had one each with some salad for lunch.
They went very well with the Spicy Ketchup I made the other day see here. Will be making some more of this, as it only made 3 small jars.
The good thing, for me at least, is...I am not missing meat, as much as I thought I would, so the pulses provide the right texture and density to overcome that. So, less meat, less fat, and more money free'd up |
