No unfortunaltly due to the breeding for showing the bantams lay a cream coloured egg Something for me to work on, try to get the egg darker but that is gunna take a lot of time  |

Beautiful bantams i suppose its just a process of selecting the darker egg layers each year (while keeping the good looks) and breed from them Would take ages though! |

Lovely chooks - well done!
So looking forward to getting my eggs in spring CIE. I have one from the eggs Andy bought me - bless him - that is now 11 weeks old and out with the other chooks. I am almost sure she is a she as she has no comb or wattles yet - also no sign of pointy feathers on neck or saddle. I will have to make sure I don't breed from her as she has crooked toes on one foot. |

History
The Barnevelder Chickens originated in the Barneveld district of Holland just prior to the first war (1914-1 and stock was imported in 1921 with the deep egg colour being its main attraction many in the early trials laying around the 200 per year mark. The Barnevelder Chickens most popular colour is called Double Laced although they are standardised in Black, Partridge and Silver.
Characteristics
The Barnevelder Chickens is alert and upright with the appearance in prolfile of a concave back line. Wings short with smallish head and single comb. Feathering on the laced is black / beetle green with a red brown edging and quill undercolour slate. Available large and miniature; sitter. Placid good backyard egg layer.
