Our Wyandottes announce to the whole village when they have laid an egg!! It's hard not to know, unless you are not about obviously! Embarassed

Have they given any verbal indication? Our Orp and Maran haven't laid anything yet and they are over a year old, I just put it down to them being the 2 most nervous of the 5 and will do it when they have settled properly.

One of my Light Sussex shouts her head off as if she's want to lay an egg, but I've never seen one.
Although she is only 20 weeks at the moment

They have about eight foot, maybe 10 foot square to roam, i do let them out of this into the garden but that's always later in the day. There are some shrubs in their but not many to hide under, unless they are laying dark Brown eggs ( Embarassed Embarassed ) I've just realized, she's a Maran, her eggs will be dark brown, the colour of soil maybe? Embarassed I will be doing a better search tomorrow.
