You cant sex them at an early age its normally at least 8 to 10 weeks before you can have a good guess by which time you should be able to see the bud of the males rose comb.Females as chicks tend to develop their flight feathers sooner than males but thats not a definate indicator. I have had birds almost 4 months before I could tell on occasions. How many have you got and what breeder did you get them from?

Poultry Poofs
Thank you for your reply it helps to know we have to wait. We bought a dozen hatching eggs at a specialised poultry sale and we had 5 hatch.I am sure that two of them are not Marsh Daisy's--one being white and marked like a Light sussex and the other has the wrong comb shape entirely but I'm hoping the other three just might be MD's. Cant say who the Breeder was as the Auctioneers dont give out the info.
Thanks for your reply though--I do appreciate it.

If they are white they wont be Marsh Daisy's and if they have the wrong comb they will be at best crosses, but what of is anyones guess. The sellers name should have been in the sale catalogue against the lot number if they are a reputable auctioneers. There arent many Marsh Daisy's around and most, but not all,are not Marsh Daisy's at all. There are so few about most people wouldnt know a real one if they saw one.Hence a few birds get passed off as Marsh Daisy's,Afraid you will just have to wait and see what they are like as adults if you are not sure,or doubtful of their origin.
