Thats a shame, I know the feeling though.. I had 12 creles, 6 lav frizzles and 6 blue/black/splash and only 4 have pipped even though all the creles were developing. I'm beginning to wonder if its the Maino inc as I had 11 Lakenvelders fully develop but only 1 hatched out. I thought it was because the thermostat had gone off in the hovabator but now I'm not so sure........ I have had 100% out of the RCom each time........ and the hovabator when I used it as an inc not just as a hatcher.
Bright side, one of the creles has hatched over night |

I have three new Pekins not sure quite how old they are. I do think they are wonderful!!
They are settling in well, I think a couple of pecks from the other four birds, but they seem happy. I meant to only get two as I had gained a white sussex and a Legbar this week in addition to hybred bantams . I had organised the three Pekins a few weeks ago. They were picked up for me by a breeder from a friend, and I had told everyone but the breeder that I only wnated 2. Not one of my brighter moments. They are in a run that is grass/ mud and I know this is not ideal I am going to get some straw to put down. I may have to get rid of one or two of my birds if it turns out too crowded! I have a house that is suitable for 6 large birds or 8 bantams and a run 5m x 5m. I think i may be pushing it a bit with 7 birds. |

| I have a run 5x5 metres with 7 hybrids, about 3 or 4 times the size of your pekins. Just make sure they have things to do, and let them have a run around every now and again |

Phew this new chicken stuff dosnt half make me panicy! Our cat has just got in with them again but this time she was much less cocky so with any luck she will get put off them as sport and we will be able to let them free range in the rest of the garden. Thanks |

Hi more questions sorry!! My Pekins have muddy feet as all the rain has made the run muddier than expected. I am desperatly trying to source woodchip to line the run at the moment but it is going to be another couple of days at least until that can be done. Should I clean their legs at the end of the day? Just before they go to bed so that I can catch them rather than running around the coop!!
I will try and get some straw today but have to go to work and cannot fit a bale in my car. |

Mud and feathered feet don't go, the mud sticks to their feet and is really hard to get off with soaking. I'd catch them and clean their feet before they go to bed or you could end up with featherless footed pekins. Worse case scenario.
Your run is ample for 7 birds, I only have 17ft x 7ft and 4ft high, I have 14 pekins in that. Half the run is open with netting roof, half is covered with that corrugated clear pvc sheeting so they have a dry area to use. |

| As long as they have deep wood shavings in their house their feet will clean up as they go in from the wet. |

| Great! They'll have fun scratching around in that, all helps to clean the feet. |
