| Thanks to all those who have responded to my original message. Diva, one of my girls, has now recovered. After sitting in the hen house for a few days, she eventually stumbled to her feet and made it outside. She then sat in the run for another few days. At last she is on the move and going out to the bigger field. I think she had been kicked by one of the horses that share the field with the hens. Her leg, I suspect had been broken. She hobbles along now and manages to keep up with the other two hens (Lucia and Mrs Wyse ). All three are wary of the horses and stay well clear of them. |

Did you examine her all over to find out where she was hurt? If it was a broken leg you'd see it or feel it, and if it is a broken leg should have been put in a splint. Would you like to hobble around with a broken leg or let your horses walk around with a broken leg?
I dont believe how some people just dont seem to know how to care for animals. You really need to be responsible, everyone does, and put the animals welfare first.
Sorry for the rant, but there are so many chicken suffering and dying these days because people just don't ask or inspect their birds for injuries or anything else. |
