Thanks...helped make my mind up. And no, not really what you would call charity shops here...which is annoying.

If you have lost weight sell them on ebay and treat your self to some new ones!! (even if you get them from ebay again)

I remember altering jeans / cords as a teen and it never going right or the pockets getting too small!!

Blimey, that's just reminded me, I dreamt you and I were rowing, last night. Can't remember anything else, just we were rowing, face to face ...

I'm kinda sad you added the bit in brackets after that ... brought back memories of a daft old grandad and his grandson when MOH and I were on honeymoon ... in a 2-man canoe, back-to-back, wondering why they weren't getting anywhere!!!!!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Trousers ... another vote for "sell them and get another pair". Altering a skirt is easy-peasy, trousers not-so. Especially as yours have pockets.

I love sewing, but HATE altering or mending stuff!! Embarassed

I miss charity shops too... the only equivalent I can think of here is Emmaüs, a charity for homeless people

Dont be a cowardy custard, have ago. Its easy Laughing Honest. Ive done loads of trousers. Remember this is only the first pair, you may have to do loads if you continue to loose weight.

Right, I'll give you the basics and you tell me if you want to give it a try.
You start by unpicking the waist band at the back seam, say about 3inches each side of the seam.

Then starting at the- ummm cant put it anyother way, sorry- crutch end of the back seam, stitch upwards starting on the old seam and moving out untill you are at the top and have taking out as much as you need. Try them on if you must but be careful not to stretch the fabric at the waist. Then split the old seam open and press.
Cut the waist band in half, take out about an inch less than what you have taken from the back seam of the trousers . This is to allow the waist band to be joined again. If you stagger it so that the waist band join doesn't sit over the back seam it lays better when the waist band is back on.
Put the waist band back. Its easy. Try on an old pair of trousers first if you like. I'll help you if you get stuck. If after this you need more off the hips thats easy but usually if you do it this way the hips will look ok.

Shocked Shocked Shocked Is somebody saying something? I seem to have lost the will to sew Shocked

They're on Ebay, and going no where.

I am not as well as I would like at the moment, so your instructions look good, but I will need to be completely compos mentos to follow them.

I will give it a go, if they don't sell, once I am recovered to full health Very Happy
