Went to Trelissac show today, enjoyed the stock. Met a french friend, lots of laughs, gestures and blank looks, but we went our seperate ways smiling, (my french is not too good)
Mojo can you explain. We arrived about 9.40 and some of the birds had already gone. The judging was done, (are the birds there overnight as the results were in the catalogue) People were queueing to buy birds. When we went to Bergerac in Feb. the pens there has little tags on, you took the tags to the desk and paid, collected your birds we could see how he system worked, today I think you just went to the desk with the catalogue and gave the number, not so good, you couldn't see what was sold.
The show was 2 days, what is on show tomorrow, some of the birds had already gone today, and at Bergerac by 10.30 most of the birds had gone. I'd be very miffed if I paid to go in and there were no birds there. |

Did you buy anything, or were hands in pockets and purse safely locked away? |

I must have just missed you, I got there at 10.30 and was looking out for you.
Yes, there were lots of birds already sold and taken - visitors tomorrow will not have a lot to see.
I really liked a Rhode Island red. Never seen one before. I was very very tempted. There were three, the best award winning one was already sold. The other one I liked wasn't for sale and the third had some negative judges comments I wasn't too keen on. I think I would have bought the first one if it wasn't already sold. The other ones I took a fancy to were the Black Orpingtons. I love their black eyes. Very attractive birds. There were loads of other too.
Just uploading some photos then I'll put the link on. |

| ay our show ...cageing weds .judging thiurs........open friday to schools and oap.....open sat selling commences as soon as the doors open there is usually a queue..............usually birds are sold but not paid for and collected till sun morning but all depends on distance travelled to show i think.....all the best stock is gone by sat midi......................but some of the stock left sells for small euros but some are not sold....(make me an offer or i eat them)..................also its odd show in one town and one breed sells straight away show in another town its a differant breed altogether...............but do remebr its for pure breeds .,..no hybrids allowed .buy your farmyard fowl from a neighbour or in the market.............do come if you can |

Got there at about 9.30ish, as you say looked out for you, it was a lot smaller than the Bergerac show, so didn't stay long. OH took possession of purse /chequebook, so didn't buy anything. Looked long and hard at the ducks though. They are his favourites, so I suspect some will come next year. I need some new pens/houses for them. I do like the sussex, but there weren't many big ones, lots of Bantams though. I think next year, I'll get a new cock to bring some new blood into my tiny flock. Isn't this fun!!! |
