| She could be suffering from blood loss from a red-mite problem or it could be that she is a bit under the weather because of the moult. Has she lost quite a few feathers recently. Check their house at night for signs of red mite. You might see small traces of fine dust on the ends of the perches or traces of blood. These little beasts feed on the hens blood mainly at night and cause debilitation and in severe cases death. Lots of posts on here about the dreaded red-mite. Jan OH Richard. |

Thanks for mentioning that, I'll have a look for red mite but haven't noticed any of the signs you describe and none of the others are affected. They haven't moulted yet, either - I've only had them since September. I'll give the Amidurène a try, because I'd hate to lose her. Thanks for the advice |

Hi Petal,
Yes 12 days. But I don't know if this means after the end of treatment of including the treatment period (5-8 days). It's not specified on the packet, just says "délai d'attente".
When I phoned the vet to ask for advice he suggested worming with Amidurène, but in fact now I've bought it I see it is for treating coccidiosis. I don't think he really knows anything about poultry, but I'll give it a try anyway, because that might be what she has. |

Thanks, my pharmasist ordred one for me yesterday from his supplies book and spoke to chap on other end at same time, a wormer was ordered, 5 days withdrawal. When i went to collect the name was what he'd said but company had changed ingredients and it wasn't to be used for layers, good job i checked, and pharmasist[helpful as he is normally] said i could just withdraw for 4 weeks , but i said NO , why should i. Do the French not worm thier chooks? If they do i'd love to know what they use.
