Sometime ago i read a topic where a member advised on buying a certain product off the internet for colds, i have trawled through to december but i cant find it, any recommendations would be welcome!

ACV (apple cider vinegar) is often recommended by forum members for sniffles etc.. My girls have never had respiritory probs, but I do occasionaly give them organic ACV.

Does anyone have any idea where one can get respite in France, or what it is called?
Poor ginger is still a bit snotty despite everyone being treated with antibiotics. Any ideas?

I use Ropadiar Solution it was recommended to me and I think it is fantastic. I got it off ebay

Hi I add it to the water everytime I refill the drinkers. As it is only 2ml per 10 lts (yes you did read that correct) it is unbelievably economical. I use it with ACV too Smile

You can also put a slightly crushed clove of garlic in the water which also helps especially if you can't get Respite or Ropadiar easily. Wink

The smallholder version of OregoStim (not the pigeon one) is just as good as Ropadair - have trialed both - and works out cheaper. I tend to give them a week of this then a week of ACV and garlic then a week of just water.

I use ACV all the time, and occationally i mix garlic powder in too with the drinking water, and touch wood, all my birds have moulted better, produced healthier chicks and glossy feathers plus, i haven't had a single sniffle this year at all! My orpingtons have never looked better! it's good stuff! xx

Interesting you use garlic powder jubilee - what type do you use, we give our dogs garlic powder for horses! I have been crushing garlic for mine but find it blocks the waterers - i have 2 on legs that fill the dish at the bottom as they drink. My waterers are 30 litre and 25 litres so how much garlic would you recomend? - also how much ACV? I give mine Orego-Stim in their waterers for 2 weeks then garlic and ACV but i don't think i have been putting enough of the ACV and garlic in.

I use the horse powder too, the pure chinese garlic one made by Naff, ACV dilution should be 25mls per litre of water, or, if giving to young chicks from day olds, then i dilute it a little more as it's an astringent, so i use 15mls per litre of water. The garlic, well i have got 8litre drinkers, and i put about a third of the little scoopy thing that it comes with in, and give a bit of a whisk with a plastic whisk (if you use metal, the ACV will turn it rusty!) and sometimes, i just put a full scoopy thing in when they have been to a few shows etc, to be on the safe side, i also put garlic powder in with their treat feed twice a week, i cook rice, and cool it, then mix a full scoop of garlic, a good slosh of codliver oil in too, the birds love it! garlic in the drinkers i do once a month for a week, with ACV, then the rest of the time i just add ACV on it's own! hope i haven't made that sound complicated! Shocked

Thanks jubilee, I can adjust amounts - I definately haven't been putting enough ACV in!
