Hi all,

In the spirit of not consuming more than we need to, and sharing skills that are rare these days, I though a list of suggested Christmas gifts would be a nice idea. If we start now we can begin the projects in time for December. What do you think?

I'll start so...

Aran Sweaters for kids - only take a week or so to make (can give patterns if anyone interested)

Homemade Butter - I'm going to try this and if I can find nice moulds I will give garlic and chive a go.

Crochet - any ideas?

Baby and kids hats - knitted

C'mon guys, I want to make as many gifts as possible this year. Wink

Pots of home made jams/chutneys etc with a pretty top, two or three to a basket. Always very well received! (I get baskets from charity shops)

Selection of potted up herbs. I have self- seeded herb plants coming up all over the place. At last look I have rosemary, lavendar (2 sorts) thyme, sage (2 sorts) tarragon and chives. When put in little decorative pots (car boot sales are a good source) they look great. Not so good to post though.

I'm going to scan and reprint all the photos I have of my sister and me as kids and make her a photo album. Not sure if she will appreciate it but I have lots of pics that she doesn't so thought it would be a nice idea!

I'm painting glasses (posted elsewhere in this section). Slow-going, though, especially when my arms are tired from mixing floor-tile adhesive Rolling Eyes

My daughter has her first mortgage, so for Christmas last year she made fantastic shortbread, bagged it in cellophane with pretty ribbons on it. Went down very well with all recipients.
Kilner jars of fruits in alcoholic syrup look very festive, mandarin's in Brandy syrup, pears in schnapps etc.
We picked Sloes and made Sloe Gin/Vodka
Damson Gin/Vodka
Bramble Brandy, all look very cheery as they are all a dark ruby colour.
