| - well nails; do they need cutting from time to time? 2 of my 3 laying hens have quite long toe nails and a couple of the toes seem to be turning outwards a little. I guess that means cutting them - will a normal dog nail cutter do? Is the principle of keeping to the light bits and away from the quick the same in poultry as in guinea pigs, dogs, cats, kids etc?? |

If they scratch around it's usually enough to keep them in trim but occasionally some of them do get a bit long.
Yes it is the same principal as cutting dogs claws. If you cut too short they will bleed. |

I'm sure they'd love a good manicure! Maybe nailpolish is going a bit too far though...  |
