My friends OH rescued a day old chick that was being attacked by its mum. He brought it home and Alison put it in the oven on very low in a little box, leaving the door open. Well, it worked!! I went over to collect my mare who was staying with Alison, and there was the chick who is now 4 weeks old. She lives in a box in the porch now.
she is such a friendly girl - comes right up to you for a fuss. Not sure what she is, but she is white, and has a fluffy head like a silkie, but also has a red comb coming. I did tell Alison that she may turn into a he. So it will be called either Mary or Joseph when it becomes obvious what it is. She did well to rear it, though!!

Glad she saved it, well done. Very Happy Will she mind if it turns out to be a cockerel?

oh no, she is organising some new friends for the chick, and said even if it turns into Joseph, its staying. She lives out in the country, and next door have hens, so I don't think there will be a problem. She did say she wished she could have found something for the chick to cuddle up to at night - I said a mop head!! Alison said she wished she had thought of that. Anyway, mop or no mop, its survived and thats the important thing.
