Ok - i know this is a long shot but i may need to get hold of some day old chicks at short notice. I had a very temperamental (but very broody) broody sitting on 9 pekin eggs. However, she often leaves some sticking out and has been off for long periods, and i have yet to witness her turnng the eggs. candling was not very promising (2 or 3 out of 9 at 10 days) and i'm not confident that any will actually hatch. Topping that all off she has now eaten the (non-developing i think) lemon cuckoo egg. Shocked

She is due to hatch next friday, but should nothing appear I am anxious to give her some chicks to surrogate.

I don't know what there is - if any - available locally in the way of breeders who offer day old chicks, especiallly at short notice. Does anyone know of any I can investigate - or have any to offer themselves should i need them?

I am in suffolk but just on the essex border - so not far from colchester or bury st. edmunds - but i don't allways have access to the car so can't travel too far to collect chicks!

I would prefer pekin chicks - cuckoo, crele, lemon cuckoo, lavendar etc, but not that fussed as to colour really.

Please help!

I'm in suffolk - about 10 miles north of colchester, on essex border.
