posting elsewhere i gave this recipe thought i d share with the cooky folks.........puree potatoes, swede, parsnip and carrot or any combination..butter a dish put in mix cover with grated cheese and bake till brown.a super winter supper dish or a big one feeds a lot of kids and cheap too........also pizza oil makes a lovely taste change to a casserolle BUT dont be too heavy handed till the family have tasted..........and finally creme frais mixed with drained fruit cocktail makes a quick differant sweet or dessert.....luv mojo |

Sounds like that could also be used instead of plain mashed potatoes on top of a cottage, shepards or fishermans pie

i use what ever i have to hand but if you are buying veg the best combo is 2 portions spuds ..1 portion swede...1portion parsnip and 1 portion carrots but no hard and fast rules mix it to suit your family if they dont like a veg leave it out but 3 differant veg seems to make the best.................any root veg will do...........mojo |

I've made this a couple of times now Mojo from your original posting, and I have just come home with the gredients to do it tonight Haven't used parsnip yet, but will tonight. Mark loves it and it's nice with a bit of crispy bacon alongside. I think I will also add a touch of garlic one time .

Done this again this afternoon to keep for later in the week, this time I added onions, celeriac and some more garlic, also used Wensleydale for the topping |

I don't want to sound really stupid but I take it the veg has to be pre cooked before you puree it |

Yes, boil it all up together like you would mash potato. I don't puree it, I mash it |

| Parboiling these roots - then oven roasting them with garlic, herbs and a few breadcrumbs sprinkled over - then adding some cheese for the last 10 minutes is also very tasty |

| Mojo, by "pizza oil", are you meaning 'extra virgin olive oil' by any chance? |
