Where are the best places to buy the 'Feed?'

I am looking locally (No success!) I can find a lot on EBay, is that value for money or advisable?

Pointers appreciated!

Do you have any agricultural merchants near you? Thats usually the best place to buy feed, but usually in 20k bags. Also some garden centres have pet areas and I've seen poultry food in 5lb and 10lb sacks for sale in our local garden centre.

Not too sure about the Agriculture shops (Check Yellow Pages) There is an excellent Garden Centre not too far away that has a Pet section. So it looks like a trip there on Saturday.

Thanks for the tip.

Where abouts in England are you?
We get ours from a local horse feed/equipment shop. They sell most animal feeds, poultry 'treatments' and a wonderful bedding called hemicore Smile

I get my 20kg sacks from the local horse feed place. But I was in a farm shop yesterday and noticed they did little 2kg bags. If you let us know whereabouts you are I'm sure there'll be someone else nearby who might be able to help you.

I bought a 25 kg bag of lay pellets from a local who sells for a hobby for £7.50 so that gives you a rough idea of what you should be paying

Evening all
Thanks for the replies. I live on The Wirral.

I am intending to phone the place that I am getting the birds from tomorrow, to ask what they are fed on now.

On the wirral you should be able to get some at horse suppliers or the Farm and pet place - that's where I get mine from or Wynnstay farmers.

Hi, I'm from The Wirral but live in Ireland now. What part are you in? There's Lartons near Royden Park they sell a good selection of animal feed but not sure if they do chicken feed too - worth giving them a ring if they're close by though.

I bought a lot of stuff from www.ascott.biz - great selection and they deliver too, even to Ireland (apart from the feed unfortunately).

Ahhh - I know Bromborough well! I'm from Wallasey myself. Did you have any luck with Lartons?
