Hi
I have 3 broody hens who have been all sitting in the same nest for the last 3 weeks, the chicks have now hatched, and I need to separate them from the other (non broody) hens in the coop.
Should I move all 3 'mothers' with the chicks? Or could this cause arguments? Should I select one and leave the others with no chicks Sad ?
Or could I leave them in the coop with the other 5 hens. One of the broodys is 'top dog'!!!!!
Oh I love hen dramas!! Its better than Eastenders!

I'd leave all the chicks with 'top dog' but watch carefully that the chicks don't try and follow the clucking sounds of the other mothers. if you can put them out of earshot of the rest of the hens it will be better for the first couple of days - after that the chicks should have bonded with the hen they are with and won't be affected by the sounds of the others - those hens will probably have got over their loss by then too.

Good luck!
