hi all after building a duck house that ive put on a island that is in the middle of our pond,i purchased two kahki campbell i left them in there overnight and let them out this morning they now are nowhere too be seen, there are many bushes around the field that the pond is in,whats the chances of them coming back to the pond/house will they come back? any help would be great

I'd have kept them in a temporary small run attached to the house for a few days first before letting them roam free, but they may come back. Ducks aren't the brightest buttons in the pack LOL

yea wish i had now,just hope when it gets dark they may go too the house,oh well got two lovely eggs from them,what a buzz too see fresh eggs not in a egg box.anyone else had a similar situation, and did they come back

You will be lucky if they do come back I'm afraid as they have yet to learn where home is. Some Khakis can fly.

Good to hear they have returned! I would keep them in a few days, or at least in an enclosed pen next to their house, so they realise just where their new home is.

I hope they have gone in for you!

I used to keep my ducks in (once they know where home is) until after 10am, ducks don't usually lay after then, and it kept the eggs clean as they'd lay in their house in the clean straw. Well as clean as a duck's house could be lol

ive now built a pen for them, will keep them there a couple of weeks,also how many handfulls of layers pellets should i be giving them,and should i refridgerate the eggs or not
