One of my Bluebelles had a problem with an overstretched crop a while ago. I managed, with patience and care not to choke her, to empty it by turning her upside down and massaging it - little and often over a day. I then separated her for 3 weeks on rations, her crop didn't go back to normal size but it did go down. Yesterday I put her back and in less than 24 hours it's huge again only this time I can't empty it and she is ill - pooping pure water! I know there is a way of emptying it by cutting open the crop but a) I haven't got a scalpel and b) I am not sure I could do it  . Personally I believe this is going to be an ongoing problem that will only get worse but before I do anything I wanted to check with you all first - any ideas? |

Oh dear, this doesn't sound too good. 
You've got 3 choices, really.
Do the same as you did before, a trip to the vet, or cull her.
I know I wouldn't be able to cut her open but if you think it would work & you can do it, then there's a 4th choice.
Not an easy one to make, but good luck with whatever you decide.  |

| Got her separated and feeding her live bio plain yogurt - crops looks smaller this morning but, as this is the 2nd time, I am worried that as soon as she goes back with the others she will get like this again. |

| I'm sorry to have to be the one to say this, but culling is the answer. Once I will work on, but if it happens again in a short space of time it means the muscle tone is shot. If they can't digest their food they'll die of starvation, and to be brutal, if you cull her now, you can eat her. |

| I had a hen like that, tried lots of things - restricting feed and feeding different things but eventually she had to be culled, nothing worked. |
