Hi there,

This is kind of a plea for help really. I have been hatching my Buff Orpingtons out successfully so decided to offer my incubator to our local primary school so they could see the development from egg to chick.

Last week I saved 15 eggs and put them in the incubator to check it was working and set up correctly. No problems... except tonight, I found out that none of the eggs are fertile! I noticed that my cockerel hasn't been very active recently either...

Anyway, I am going to the school to explain everything to the children tomorrow and was hoping to put the eggs in the incubator that I have been saving this week on Tuesday... but if they aren't fertile then it's a bit of a problem.

My plea is really to see if there is anybody out there that would be willing to save some known fertile eggs for me (ideally locally) but if not, I could pay postage / packing? I could pay for them if necessary.

It would be a real advantage to have a known breed of chicken so I could re-home them later on assuming success.

Thanks for your help.

Tim

PS I can collect anywhere around / near Bedfordshire...

Bit of a long shot but I've asked my brother if his farmer friend has any - they're in Olney if that's not too far? Confused

And I think they're Buff Orpingtons too...

Oh thank you so much for asking CP. I really appreciate it.

Someone on the Pekin Bantams forum who lives in Ampthill, just up the road said they should be able to help me out - so I'll phone them this evening and keep my fingers crossed. I will let you all know anyway...
