My husband has found a large roll of green plastic mesh and was wondering if he could use it to cover the run with or does it have to be the wire sort ?

Depends what you're trying to keep in/out. If it's what I think it is you could probably use it to make a temporary run for chickens but they'd eventually push under it. If you're covering the run to stop them jumping/flying out then it will work, if it's to keep wild birds out then it depends on it's hole size, if it's small enough to keep out sparrows and such and that's what you want it for then it should work nicely, you'll have to keep it taut at the edges because birds will land on it and it will sag, also the rain will make it sag so be sure it is firmly attatched at the sides.

If it's fruit cage netting, it's fine for keeping out wild birds, that's what it's made for after all Wink If it's pea netting the holes will be too big to keep out the small birds but should keep pigeons out Twisted Evil and hawks too!

It isn't what I thought it was Laughing

I was thinking of that orange strong stuff that they use on building sites etc. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Fruit netting should do nicely though to keep all sorts of baddies out.
