We decided to get some fertilised eggs for our hen to sit on. We have separated her from the others and she is happy in her own shelter sitting on the eggs. How often should we remove her from the eggs so that she can feed? Our feeling is that left to her own devices she would sit without moving and therefore risk wasting away.
Any advice gratefully received.

I never move my broodies and if they're sitting (as opposed to fostering) I only see the evidence that they have been out to feed, drink and leave a great stinking pile. They have to walk from the nest area to the end of the attached run to feed/drink, but the point is, they only move off the nest when there is nobody about.

Thanks everybody. We have decided to lift her off once a day.
