That's sounds good. I hope my next chicken home will also have room for me to sit and be with them come rain or shine |

No they are all retired now and mainly sleeping in front of the fire, lazy creatures, you wouldn't think that such a fast dog could be so lazy, but they do deserve it |

Thank heavens for that!!!!
I help with greyhound and lurcher rescue and was dreading you saying you'd got rid coz they weren't racing anymore......I quite agree about the lazy couch potato thing...pity more people don't realise it....we'd end up with a lot less in rescue!!

Sorry its a big read folks.... (Mojo - BIG picture .sorry)
I'm looking for critisiscm on my design... (I missed of a window, as theres one on either side of the door) The pop hole will be on the end wall where the wheel barrow is. Their outside run will run from the pop hole, the width of there house and back approx 15 - 20' (Lilac tree in the middle which is a problem if we have to have a solid roof)but I can lop it lower and probably not ruin it to much.
One last thing, Im still arguing with Geoff over the issue of giving the girls full access to the space, as it also has to be my gardening shed So I need to be clever in design, things i've yet to resolve with this design, is how to stop them getting on to my shelf/ves (there may be 2 on that wall)and how to stop them jumping on to the roof of the nest boxes as that will be a pooh collecter..
Anyway as I say I would love as many opinions as poss,
Thanks

Nice idea, but, you do realise how much dust will end up in there? I think I would partition the part closest to the garden for them and have the remainder for your tools etc
Otherwise they are just going to sit on things like your lawnmower |

Lovely, when can I move in
Um, I would also add, whilst talking of dust, that most of the dust will be dried chicken poo, and I would hate for you to be spending too long in there and risking Psittacosis (Pigeon Fancier's Lung).
Is the poo gonna drop onto the top of the nest box? SDorry, writing too small for me to read well |

Nannyp the poop collector was going to be the lid for the nest boxes, and either a tarpaulin or something more rigid like the mammoth potting trays you can get (2 side by side).I still plan on cleaning their pooh out daily or every other day.
George, your thinking on the lines of my Geoff. It could be put the same end as the pop hole so it could be sectioned off. I had planned on tucking the mower in next to the nest boxes, under a large rubber mat, and I have a small vacuum cleaner which I expect to keep in there & use weekly. No Im not going to put fluffy cushions and incense in there.. oooh theres a thought
Thanks for your suggestions. |

| excellent idea, but I think the girls will be unable to resist that third perch (aka your shelf). It might be a large step for mankind but for a chicken it's only a small flutter. |
