| I have both powders from the same company, can't think of the brand name now, but both are classed as organic as far as I recall. I figure that on the basis theve marketed for each individual pest, I would assume you need both for the two pronged attack. |

I cut a pasted this
Contents: The formulation uses only 100% natural ingredients known for their excellent properties to thoroughly rid poultry and other birds of all types of mite and lice. Its active ingredient is a synergised tropical plant extract mixed with a blend of herbal and essential oils, all of which are proven very effective for this purpose. Sterilizable maize is used as the carrier and unlike other carriers, it will not metabolise via cuts, abrasions, scabs, grazes or dry flaky skin areas and form granulomas. |

| The active ingredient is listed as a 'synergised tropical plant'. Nippon ant powder works just as well a does any 'own brand' with the same active ingredient (which I can't remember at the moment - only that the Focus Ant powder also has it. |

Just got back from feed supplier.
I looked at active ingredients in 'Barrier Red Mite Powder':-
Australian Tea Tree Oil 1.5%
Lavandin Oil 1.5%
Active ingrediants for 'Barrier Louse/Flea Powder':-
Australian Tea Tree Oil 1.5%
Lavandin Oil 1.5%
Difference £2.45 in favour of Louse/Flea Powder.
Am I missing something there??

This will sound really, REALLY stupid I know, but I have never put louse powder onto a chicken before. How much do I use, do I put it all over them, do I sort of 'distribute it' through the feathers, or what?
Read the messages and I have done the same as Bhindi, bought one for Red Mite and one for Lice! If they have the same constituants, I will be returning one on Monday! I should have read the label! ;-(
Henwife is it really ok to use Nippon and powder on my lovely chickens?
I have also been told over and over again locally to use Frontline spray (for dogs, not for cats) one spray under each wing, which will get rid of everything and anything that might attempt to live on my chickens! What about my eggs though I ask and I am told that no one has ever had a problem with it?!!? I have some, but am I brave enough to use it? That is another problem. No sign of anything at all yet, this is just preventive thinking and I have bought 10 warrens which will be getting the lice and red mite powder tomorrow before they get anywhere near to my silkies, so that is why I am asking really
