Too wide. 2 inches square with the edges rounded off would be ideal.

A broom handle ok?

2 inches diameter......hell thats on heck of a broom. Would suggest 2 x 2 or 2 x 1 1/2 would be better.................just screw 2 bits if 2 x 1 together.....

Still can't believe that bolt!!!

The perch MkII is this better> i remembers i clipped an apple tree back last year, and though this would make a perfect perch? is this ok now? i added to the bottom so it wont fall down and i have only put 1 screw on each side of the perch to i can change it or clean it so it will come apart easier

The other side of it

Looks good, but personally I would saw back the protruding bits of branch from the main perch so that no injurys occur.

Its looking very good!

im only a novice but if you get red mite infestation the bark could prove a problem ,may have to take it off and debark it but im sure more knowledgable person can give their view.

err the part of cutting 2 bits of wood screwing them together, rounding them off, measuring them up, etc, then i spy a bit of wood, cut it once, screw it in, Rolling Eyes

I put all mt tools away (thinking i had finnished) so i will have to drag them out again

I've got a cunning plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bandhead
Get a natural branch about 3 inches in diameter.
Square it off.
Now it may look very much like a piece of 2 x 2 with the edges rounded off, but it isn't OK
