Lovely looking house and run there . may be you could
get some thick plastic to put down on the floor . then you can put your bedding on top. much easier to clean, when all you have to do is pull out all those little presents your hens leave behind. Good luck . pics of your new hens plz !!!!

Not yet two weeks in and I'm already fed up with cleaning the chicken s**t from the patio every evening, and the present coop means that I cannot reach the nest boxes easily (not that we've seen any eggs yet). I'm thinking of rearranging their accommodation. A mobile coop/run seems most suitable. I've got 4 Black Rocks, how much floor space should I give them in the sheltered (overnight) section (I'll use the 2 x 1 ft sq nest boxes I've already got), and how big should the 'day' run be? They'll be let out to have the run of the garden for a couple of hours each day.
