thought i'd give you a chicky update. They're 4 weeks old today and haven't they grown! pretty sure now that the blue is a cock (bummer!). It would be the prettiest, sorry most handsome, and friendliest that turns out to be a cock. We may be requiring a new home in the not too dim and distant so any takers? Anyway he/ she's fine where he is for now so on with the photos.

Is it the pics, because to me the blue one's comb looks smaller than the white one's. Confused

They look spectacular to me. If you can get a pic on the inside of the fence of them....side head shots, we may be able to tell if he/she is indeed a he.

I've been reading the threads about sexing both on here and pp. the chicks were sexed when i got them and i was told then the blue was probably a cock as a vet had been and bought some off her earlier that day and sexed them for her. It's certainly a lot slower feathering up than the other four especially around the neck/ hackles sort of area. PLease dont tell me that the was white now turning splash is a cock as she looks very similar to the three blacks.

(steady george!)

I sympathize alice - that's the only downside of hatching eggs.

Out of 13, I think we have 9 cockerels & only 4 hens!!!! Damn! Anyone want either an Old Cotswold Legbar bantam cock, or a Nankin cock?

Clutch at straws. I think each different breed has a different sized comb and therefore will look different. My Leghorn chicks will all look like roos compared to my Aracauna chicks when placed side by side. Easiest way to tell is to set two of the same breed together.
