I've read its also a sign that they're not eating much ie greater ratio of bile to food turns droppings green.
Just curious. Why do you say its not Mareks like the others? Were there other syptoms in the others that this one hasn't got? Sorry if I'm missing something obvious and just having a blonde moment? |

I don't know if I should add the wormer to her right now or not. But will go on your suggestions.
She is barely eating. And as Lisa has pointed out, the bile could also be doing this to her.
When I explained what the duck was doing, to Rachel...while she was on the phone with Terry Beebe...I told her that the duck would put it's leg out to the side to try and brace itself to try and stand up. But if you reached in and righted it, it would keep it under itself again. This promted the diagnosis of Mareks. As I did not let any of the girls go down hill when they first couldn't walk, I do not know if their legs would have become splayed. It was hard enough ending their lives...I couldn't bring myself to do a pm on them...
The chickens have been like this one. No splayed leg. This is the first one I have seen with the green droppings. They are alert and almost seem happy. They just can not stand up and walk. I am keeping this one alive and in the house....experimenting with different feeds, vitamins, medications, etc. I have to figure out if I can save the ones who will get it after this. |

I know I'm digging up an old post here but - couldn't find the outcome - am so worried it may be Mareks with my hens. The symptoms you describe here sound exactly like my little lad - he's eating and drinking fine - just can't stand - what was the matter with this hen - did you ever find out? Reading thro' all the old posts it sounds like you've had a bad time with your flock...
I hope things with you are fine now... |
