The ferry price is about 80 SEK (£6) per person. They don't list the car price on the website, as visitors aren't allowed to take cars to the island. People on business have special rules, so we may come under that, or we may have to take the goats on the ferry as a "large dog".

The type is a "peasant goat", a Swedish breed similar to Old English, I believe. They have both adults and kids.

I do like your idea of the large picnic, though...

That was a great help, believe me.

There is a bit more info here on them.

I like the categories at the Swedish Board of Agriculture. "Goats and Hens", "Rabbits and Bees"...

Smile

Still trying to get it all sorted clandestinely. The Swedish equivalent of a CPH number has arrived today, along with mountains of forms and record books to be filled in, and order forms for ear tags, etc.

I think that would get him *very* suspicious. He doesn't like surprises, he says!

not sure how far away it is, but what about having a day out up there to see what it's like (minus trailer) and accidently finding some goats to look at

It's not that far away, it's only about 25 minutes to Landskrona and a 30 minute ferry ride, so actually as close as getting to my work.

OK. I think we've got it sorted... We can go over to see the goats, then they will bring them over to the mainland for us, as they are allowed to do so.

Erm. Have I got a bit carried away? We've been offered a mum, her two daughters, and erm... her 2 grand daughters.

I think that's 5, which is slightly more than 2, but seeing as Nigel didn't know I was thinking of 2 or 3, having 5 isn't a real increase, is it? I mean, they were virtual theoretical goats until now, weren't they?

They haven't mentioned that any are. I didn't think to ask!

No, the two grand daughters aren't.

We've got a couple of cheese making books, which also include yoghurt and creme fraîche etc. We've found that buying the cultures in the UK and getting them posted here is really no more expensive than buying them in the UK.
