Hi I recently bought 2 coups off ebay and they are due to be ddelivered tomorrow. the thing is I chose to have the coups left untreated so I could stain/paint them when I got them. I was just wondering if there was a certain type of stain/paint that I had to use? Or could I use a standard tin of wood stain from B&Q?

Personally I would use a water-based wood stain, but as long as it's dry & the fumes gone (if oil-based) before your birds go in, then it should be fine.

We use a cheap one from Wickes. Wink

Those are the coups we have bought. I have been looking at them today though and i'm not sure about how to clean them out though as it doesn't look like the roof opens Confused

Oh well we'll soon see tomorrow when they turn up.

Would strongly recommend Ronseal woodstain, and if at all possible give them three good coats. They shouldn't need re-treating for four to five years.

Hi ChuckChuck
Just a quick look, I couldn't see any ventilation for the birds.
They would need some sort of draft free adjustable ventilation.
More health problems are caused by poor ventilation and damp atmosphere than by anything else.
Hope this is helpful
Stamina.

Well they arrived.
The roof doesn't lift off for cleaning Sad There is a door at the back but not a very big one. The perch is about 4" off the floor. Looks like it is going to be quite akward to clean out Confused
Where would I start with ventilation holes? What would I need to do? Where and how? lol
I know a chippy who will help me out but I don't know wht I would need to do Sad Any help would be very much appreciated Smile

I'd just like to add they are very well built. I think they just maybe have a few flaws that need ironing out.
